The PMO is committed to accomplishing the following objectives:
- Maintain a Portfolio of LBNL mission critical projects so that LBNL projects are tracked for success.
- Define a Framework for project planning, management, execution and control that allows for tailoring and grading based on the nature of the project.
- Identify, establish, and ensure the utilization of Project Management Framework methodologies, tools, processes and templates
- Foster the competency of project management staff in applicable methodologies and tools
- Implement independent oversight mechanisms that are utilized and insightful
- Ensure that the Roles and Responsibilities of all staff involved in project lifecycle including oversight are clear and accepted
- Foster a positive, continuously improving, project management environment culture that is pursued and embraced by LBNL management and staff
The PMO is committed to the establishment of an effective and sustainable project management environment and culture encompassing project proposal, prioritization, project planning, project management (including execution, monitoring and control), project delivery (including transfer to operations), and project oversight.
